PHUKET COUNTRY CLUB

The Phuket Country Club debuted as the island's first 18-hole championship golf course. Thanks to its central location, downtown Phuket is just a short drive from all the beaches and hotels.

The Phuket Golf Course is located in a valley, with the golf course winding through limestone hills and cliffs and passing through three distinct environments (six holes in rolling hills, six holes at town level and six holes through a landscaped forest).

The course begins with a fairly challenging layout, with the first nine holes being the most undulating and challenging. The course requires precise drives. The consecutive short par-4s on numbers 6 and 7 are played from elevated tees located just at the edge of the jungle. The back nine, slightly more open and flatter, features the first significant water hazard at the par-5, 493-meter 10th, and what an introduction!

Phuket's most famous golf hole, the 10th, tees off from an elevated tee box and makes a 180-degree turn around a U-shaped fairway laid out around a large lake. It's up to each golfer to take advantage of the water around it. Longer hitters can go straight for the green, with the possibility of an albatross or a hole-in-one. Whether you like it or not, this hole is undoubtedly different and demands dozens of balls a day.

Water is also present on the short par-4 16th hole and again on the par-3 17th hole, one of Phuket's best short holes. An excellent set of straight bunkers protect several greens, while more open fairway bunkers show the tee line.

CLUB HOUSE AND FACILITIES

The clubhouse and facilities require some renovations to bring them up to par with the golf course. However, all practice areas are open to the public and constitute arguably the most comprehensive golf training center on Phuket Island. The beauty and elegance of the course, combined with the typically Thai charm and hospitality of the caddies, guarantee that every round of golf at Phuket Country Club is a truly memorable one.
