PALM HILLS GOLF COURSE

Palm Hills Golf Club is located near downtown Hua Hin and the airport, in the mountainous foothills. It was Hua Hin's first international-standard golf course, opening in 1992. The following year, Palm Hills hosted the inaugural Thailand World Pro-Am tournament.

The course stretches over a long stretch of rolling terrain, giving it a typical appearance links Scottish Highlands, which sets it apart from other courses in the region. Designed by architect Max Wexler, it runs east to west, with lakes at both ends, separated by the clubhouse and a spectacular rocky outcrop that is a natural extension of the mountain range.

Palm Hills Golf Club takes its name from the hundreds of palm trees that line the course, as well as its many hillside pitches. Thousands of vibrantly colored frangipani and bougainvillea trees further enhance its tropical charm. back nine, located on the heights, offers a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Thailand and Hua Hin.

Among the most popular in the region, Palm Hills boasts generous, wide Bermuda-style fairways that are accessible to golfers of all skill levels. However, the cleverly positioned bunkers and water hazards, combined with the Tiff Eagle greens, renowned for their extreme speed, make the task complex and good scores difficult to achieve. These greens are also among the fastest in Hua Hin, especially when the grain is pronounced.

Holes 10 through 14 are among the most remarkable on the course, requiring pinpoint accuracy in shot placement. The signature hole is the 11th, a long, uphill par 3 facing the sea breeze, requiring at least one extra club to reach the green in regulation.

Hole 14, a 293-meter par 4, although short, is one of the most exciting challenges at Palm Hills. It's a dog-leg left, with water on the inside edge and partially on the fairway. Club selection at the tee is crucial: a successful drive opens the door to a guaranteed par, or even a birdie.

The overall condition of the course is impeccable. The careful landscaping is evident throughout the course, and at certain times of the year, the course is enveloped in the exotic scent of flowers in full bloom.

CLUB HOUSE AND FACILITIES

The facilities, including the locker rooms, practice areas, and clubhouse, are adequate but could benefit from modernization. As with many Thai golf clubs, the restaurant offers delicious food at affordable prices.
