MAJESTIC CREEK COUNTRY CLUB

THE Majestic Creek Country Club is a challenging course, ranked by a German golf magazine as the best in Hua Hin—an opinion shared by many locals and expats. Designed by Dr. Sukkitti Klangvisai, the experienced Thai architect also responsible for Phuket's Loch Palm, it underwent extensive renovations in 2012 covering all 27 holes. The club now boasts some of the best TifEagle grass greens in the region.

Located in the foothills about twenty kilometers west of Hua Hin, the course offers authentic rural panoramas, among sugarcane, tapioca, and pineapple plantations. Fed by the valleys of the nearby mountains, a network of streams winds through the layout, preserved as a natural obstacle and making many shots over water particularly challenging.

At 6,800 meters, the course offers a wide variety of expertly designed challenges. Low handicappers will particularly appreciate the demanding tees, where long drives over lakes are often required. Nearly every hole incorporates water hazards (ponds, streams) as well as formidable bunkers. Accuracy and composure are essential for scoring, even if the firm fairways lined with palm trees offer good length to well-struck drives.

Among the emblematic holes, we note the last one of course B, a par 5 of 588 yards, which requires a long and precise drive to position yourself ideally on the fairway. A stream and then a lake must be crossed before attacking a narrow green with a steep back-to-front slope, where the accuracy of the approach is essential.

Course C also deserves attention with its remarkable layout at the foot of the Pranburi Dam. Hole 5, a par 3 with waterfall, is one of the most memorable in Hua Hin. Finally, hole 6 of course B, a strategic par 4, perfectly illustrates the balance between risk and reward: a controlled fade to a gently sloping fairway ensures a good position, while the approach to a three-tiered green can offer a great birdie opportunity… provided you avoid the side bunkers.
